Huawei vision on creating common IP-centric network

Huawei Technologies, a provider of next generation networks
for telecommunications operators, recently shared its vision to create a common
IP-centric network to realize fixed mobile network convergence at the 21 Century
Communications World Forum in London.

The forum features key telecom operators and vendors from
around the world. As one of the leading telecommunications vendors in Europe,
Huawei shared its insights on future market developments of the global
telecommunications industry at the forum.

Wang Jin, VP, Head of European Marketing, Huawei, pointed out
that the IP-based ICT industry integration would create a profound and extensive
impact on the future of telecom networks.

Huawei also led a workshop to discuss "A common
IP-centric network infrastructure for fixed mobile convergence". Other
participants in the workshop included top global carriers such as British
Telecom, France Telecom, Telecom Italia, China Telecom, and the consulting
firm-Ovum, all of whom discussed the driving forces of a common IP-centric
network architecture and network, and shared their respective research results
and practical progresses.

Joy Huang, Huawei's expert in NGN, discussed the driving
forces of network convergence in terms of industry convergence and customer
experience requirements.

The network service control center, user data center, session
control center, resource control center and unified service POP should be set up
in a gradual manner. The access layer should evolve to the integrated NG-MSAN,
and the bearer layer should develop towards all IP.

In conjunction with the forum, a two-day exhibition was held at the London
Convention Center on March 28-29, 2006.
