Hughes leads the satellite networking space

Voice & Data, India's leading communications industry magazine, has announced that Hughes Network Systems India had emerged as the leader in the satellite communications space in India. As per the 9th national telecom survey brought out by the magazine, Hughes Network Systems India was awarded the top VSAT Equipment Vendor in India for the second year in succession.

As per the report - in the VSAT equipment space, Hughes Networks Systems India emerged the leader by selling 9593 VSATs worth Rs 125 crore in 2003 - 04. This was a 37% growth in volume; having sold 7000 VSAT's worth Rs 109 crore in 2003-03.

As per Voice & Data, Hughes maintained the clear lead both in unit terms and turnover over its competition in India. Hughes's growth in the last year was propelled by wins in a wide array of segments, Hughes sold 5746 units to corporate (lottery comprising 3,000 units), 3314 units to the government sector, and 533 units were sold to the SME segment comprising channel, ducation, and retail.

Hughes Network Systems India President, Pranav Roach said "An important reason the company continues to lead the market segment is the continuous product enhancement and performance by the leading provider of satellite network solutions and product provider, Hughes Network Systems, USA."
