IBM unveils new x86 servers

New Delhi : IBM announced two IBM System x servers featuring the
six-core processor technology from Intel. The new servers offer exceptional
power-efficiency, performance and virtualization capabilities for today's most
demanding datacenters.

"IBM is determined to address the performance needs of the clients and the
growing demand to scale up x86 servers," said Ajay Mittal, Country Manager-System
x, IBM India/South Asia. "The new system x servers would provide the innovation
our x86 clients expect, with better performance and power usage than our
competitors' offerings," he added.

It comes with a tuned memory so that the memory technology is capable of
lowering the power consumption up to 37 percent. Also the system offers flexible
scalability that allows expansion of the system from four sockets to 16.

IBM is helping clients move to new enterprise data centers by focusing on
best practices around virtualization, green IT, service management and cloud
computing.
