ICICI Infotech bags tax information network project

IT solution provider ICICI Infotech, has been selected to implement tax information system (TINXSYS) across the entire country. The committee of State Finance Ministers has appointed it as the managed service provider on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis to setup and manage the entire infrastructure for this national-level initiative over a period of five years. 

The project would be completed in two phases. Phase one involves pilot implementations, which will be completed in seven months. Phase two of the project would involve implementation of the project across all Indian states and union territories.

For the project, ICICI Infotech and its consortium partners would provide solutions in the areas of software development, data warehousing, data migration, country-wide networking, data centre, disaster recovery services, application support, facilities management, IT infrastructure services, call centre and helpdesk services and training.

Commenting on the technology implementation, Ramesh Chandra, Secretary, Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers said, "This technology backbone is key to the government's vision of improving tax administration in the country, and it was imperative for us to have a partner with strong capabilities and the ability to support the government in implementing this vision." Further, with the country set to move into a Value Added Tax regime from next year, technology will form a critical element in effective administration.
