Nitin Aggarwal, a computer
engineer and an MBA, manages

Technologies with assistance from
his father. Trifin is one of the fastest growing IT products
distribution and solution integration companies of India. Aggarwal's
wife Shreya, is a dental surgeon and they are blessed with two
daughters. He has an elder sister too, and his mother is a home
maker.
Interests
Aggarwal loves to play
with his daughters whenever he gets time. As a gadget freak, he never
misses out on any new device in the 'gizmo space', while his current
passion is his latest iPad. Mostly being occupied with business
activities, he does not get time for activities related to physical
fitness, but would soon include that in his daily routine. Aggarwal
works hard to strike a balance between his personal and professional
life. He does not have any specific holiday destination to his
liking, but enjoys every moment that he spends with his family on
such trips. Philanthropic and social activities are among his core
interests. His family underwent a tragic phase few years ago with the
untimely death of his younger brother, Ashish. Aggarwal formed a
trust-Sai Ashish Charitable Trust along with his friend to work out
something for the educational and medical welfare of those in need.
Role Model
When it comes to choosing
a role model, Aggarwal thinks differently. He derives inspiration
from the one who has brought him up and groomed him into a budding
entrepreneur with acumen. "My father keeps inspiring me in
multiple ways. He has gone through tough times, full of struggle, but
he has always ensured that his family gets the best. For me, he is
the strongest guiding force in my life," Aggarwal said.
The Birth of a Company
Delhi-based Trifin
Technologies was founded and initially handled by Aggarwal's younger
brother, Ashish. The company was born on April 18, 1996. "From
choosing the name to the company's inception process, everything was
done by my brother, Ashish. We were probably the first to retail
licensed software for all the leading brands. This was a very bold
and unique step way back in 1996," said Aggrawal. Trifin was
growing with consistency and rapidly, and within the first 10 years
of its existence, the company touched a revenue ranging from Rs 1
crore to Rs 50 crore.
Achievements
Creating a brand name that
commands respect in the market including vendors, partners and
customers is the biggest achievement of Trifin, believes Aggarwal.
"We have done business with almost all small and mid-and-large
sized customers at some point of time. Personally I feel that, it is
an achievement that the company is still alive and thriving, even
after such a huge tragedy of loosing my brother who was behind
Trifin's existence. The company has executed several software
projects with technological expertise, and won several contracts and
added new customers to its kitty. Though the year 2010 happened to be
a competitive one, the company has managed to achieve $2 million from
the software segment alone.
Over the past few years,
Trifin has deployed an array of solutions around infrastructure,
security, backup/replication in the enterprise sector. The company is
concentrating on the software space, and will focus on selling
software as a solution, which is a combination of software, hardware
and services in a strong and competitive manner. "We have been
focusing on the storage business, especially during the last two
years. This is facilitating us to sell other software solutions from
Microsoft, Adobe, AutoCAD, backup software and replication to our
customers," quoted Aggarwal. As customers are looking for a
single vendor to serve their varied IT requirements, Trifin is
committed to sell software as a complete solution beyond just a
product delivery.
Bottlenecks
Getting the right set of
manpower is a very big challenge and furthermore, retaining them is
another challenge, thinks Aggarwal. As per the industry standards,
the company tries to give the best possible benefits to its
employees, so that they can work efficiently and productively. "I
find ethics to be a big challenge today. It really puts me off and
makes me wonder to what extent this exists in the whole system, and I
am struggling with this," expressed Aggarwal.
Roadmap
Trifin has an aggressive
business strategy, and is optimistic about the market opportunities.
Growing steadily, the company is eying at retail as a key
differentiator to its business. "I would like Trifin to grow in
the channel reselling business and to be an IT company which offers
end-to-end solutions to corporate and enterprise customers. I would
like Trifin to have a chain of retail outlets as well,"
concluded Aggarwal.
