Iris targets Rs 200 crore from WD's HDD and AV drives

As of now IRIS was only distributing internal drives for laptops and desktops and AV drives. WD has internal, external and AV drives. AV drives are majorly used to record and compress audio visual data. In normal drives the head keeps swinging back and forth to recover and store data, which results in air spaces and particle formation due to the movement.

WD AV on the other hand keeps recording in a motion where there is no build up of particle or air spaces which makes it more durable and crash-resistant. IRIS is eyeing a business of Rs 200 crore per year with the distribution of Western Digital's HDD and AV drives. 

"It is the first product component that Iris has entailed in its distribution range,
earlier Iris did not have any component manufacturer in its portfolio. " says Sanjiv Krishen, chairman IRIS Computers"

"All the products that Iris distributes today are finished products, be it laptops, PCs or Server among others. Hard Drives are not finished and have to be a part of the computer in its assembly stage" he added.
