Is cabling on its way out?

While cabling is a matured technology and is the backbone of most of the network today, unwiring the network is catching fast if the growing number of 'Hotspots' is any indicator to go by. The emergence of
Wi-Max is also a reality.

Does this mean that cabling will become redundant? Or is going wireless the key to the future? Dax Networks is conducting a series of seminars to debate this topic. The roadshows are aimed at creating awareness among end-users on balancing their network expansions between Wi-Fi and Wired data networks.

The roadshow will cut across 19 cities in the country. The first seminar in this series was organized at Trivandrum on June 17. The other cities in the itinerary include Cochin,
Trichy, Madurai, Pune, Mumbai, Baroda, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Lucknow, Bhopal, Delhi,
Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Dehradun and Jaipur.

In the first roadshow, two executives from Dax Networks debated the issue extensively and presented the advantages of one technology over the other and the scenarios under which each technology will bring the desired results.
