IT companies lend their hand in tsunami relief operations

Infosys Technologies has announced a contribution of Rs five crore to the
Prime Minister's National Relief Fund to assist the victims of the giant
tsunami that ravaged south and south-east Asia on December 26. To reach out to
the people rendered homeless, the company is also actively supporting its
employees' efforts across group companies globally, to make monetary and
material contributions towards aid operations.

Expressing his grief over the calamity, Infosys CEO, President and MD, Nandan
M Nilekani said, " Through this contribution, we hope to provide flexible
resources to meet emergency needs such as food, water, clothing, shelter
material and other supplies to aid survivors."

The relief effort of TCS will be part of the coordinated response from Tata
Group companies. TCS is attempting to channelize collection of clothes, medicine
and essential items and dispatch them.

Samsung India Electronics Ltd (SIEL) under the 'Samsung Hope' umbrella
has put up a relief camp in the worst affected area of Pondicherry. The camp
will provide food, clothes, utensils and medicines urgently needed by the people
rendered homeless by this tragedy. Additionally, all employees of SIEL have
unanimously decided to contribute voluntarily one day's salary towards the 'Samsung
Hope' effort. Support from channel partners of Samsung is coming in two
forms-donation of clothes, utensils and other utility articles in the HOPE Boxes
- that are kept at all branch sales offices of Samsung India across the

country.

Computer Associates International (CA) has donated $200,000 to UNICEF in
support of the organization's massive relief effort to help people affected by
the tsunami in Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India, Thailand and the Maldives.
Additionally, the company will provide its standard two-for-one match to all
employees giving to international aid organizations through the organization's
Matching Gifts Program.

UNICEF is working to meet the urgent needs of the people who survived the
tsunami but now need shelter, water, medical supplies and assistance.
