Jammu dealers revive association

After a gap of six years, members of Jammu Computer Dealers Association (JCDA) came together on September 10 to revive the nearly dead association. Over 60 dealers including the former executive members attended the meeting held at Hotel Asia Jammu. The agenda of the meet revolved around getting JCDA registered with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in general for its affiliation.

Talking about the revival of the association, Sanjay Langer, nominee President, JCDAsaid that the main objective behind reviving the association is to get economic compensation from the state government. “Since it is very difficult for an individual to claim the compensation as he might not be aware of the processes involved. Sensing the need and call of the hour from the fellow dealers, we have called for an emergency meeting of the last elected body of the association.”

In addition to this the members also had a discussion around holding elections in October. The members have resolved to form a quorum to nominate the executive members in order to form a new body.

Elaborating further, Langer said that they will be giving a legal shape to the association. “We have discussed this with few of the advocates. Shortly we will be coming up with legally drafted memorandum of this association and registering the same before the respective authority. Also we are registering our association with Jammu Chamber to apply for the claims for compensation. Jammu Chamber has already taken up this issue of compensation with the state government. For this, we have already handed over the list of computer dealers available with us, as required by the Jammu Chamber for initiating the process of claims.”

Talking about the same Rakesh Badyal, executive member of JCDA mentioned, “JCDA had suffered heavy losses during the two months long agitation in the state. This was yet another reason why we were unable to hold elections on time. Now that the conditions are stable, we will hold elections in October and elect new members accordingly.”

Sharing details about the terms and conditions of the memberships, Langer informed that there will be a lifetime membership fee of Rs 2,100 (for one time only) and annual fee of Rs 1,000(which will be charged annually). A member has to attend at least one general body meeting out of four in a year.  In case, a member fails to do so, then his lifetime membership fee will be forfeited and he has to pay again.

Tenure of the elected body will be of two years only.

JCDA had last held its elections in 2002 but with members gearing up to boost their businesses the existing committee has resolved to hold an AGM regularly besides holding general body meet once in quarter.
