JCDA adds more firepower to its anti-piracy drive

The Jalandhar Computer Dealers Association (JCDA) had its first monthly
meeting after the elections of the year 2008-2009 on May 31, 2008. This was the
first meeting that the newly appointed executive council organized. And the
focal point of the meeting was the association's continuing efforts to
discourage its partners to engage in piracy of software.

In fact the association has put the message 'Stop Piracy' prominently on all
the collateral it has created for its members. This includes the membership
certificates, quotation books and slip pads that were distributed amongst
members. Besides this the association also gave away badges with 'Stop Piracy'
written in bold letters.

"We have decided to do our best to encouraging our partners to sell only
genuine software. We have even assured Microsoft that we will support them in
their anti-piracy drive. All we expect in return is that if Microsoft learns of
any dealer involved in selling pirated software, it should keep us informed as
well, so that we can verify whether the allegation is correct," said Rajiv
Khanna, President, JCDA.

Besides this the meeting also saw discussion on problems affecting members as
well as finding out ways to make the association more agile. Another important
aspect of the meeting was the discussion on sales tax and the recent inspections
done by the sales tax department on four JCDA members.
