JCDA bandh to protest thefts

Five incidents of theft within two months at IT shops in Jalandhar have
spurred Jalandhar Computer Dealers' Association (JCDA) to call a one-day strike.
Members were protesting against the police for their failure to keep a check on
security, giving rise to thefts, frauds and robberies in the region. The strike
was called on Nov 10.

"We have filed a comp­laint to SSP at Jalandhar police station asking them to
take proactive steps against the increasing theft and fraud incidents in the
town," informed Rajiv Khanna, Member, JCDA.

On November 8, a group of burglars fled with cash and 60 laptops worth Rs
50-55 lakh from Jalandhar-based Impel Infosys. Giving the latest update on the
incident, Khanna informed that till now police has not been able to get hold of
any substantial clue on the thefts.
