Juniper Networks has announced the
general availability of Juniper Networks'

Ethernet Switches,
which offers a highly cost-effective, high-performance solution for
supporting converged network access deployments in branch and remote
offices as well as campus networks.
Featuring Junos software-based layer 2
and basic layer 3 switching capabilities, the new EX2200 line of
fixed-configuration managed Ethernet switches offers a plug-and-play
10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet solution that satisfies the access
connectivity requirements of today's high-performance businesses at
a lower price point than most competitive managed Layer 2 10/100
Ethernet enterprise access switches. Environmentally conscious, the
EX2200 switches feature low-acoustic fans, consume less than two
watts per port on non-PoE models, and have a compact 10-inch depth,
making them an ideal solution for small office environments where
switches are frequently installed on tabletops or other open areas.
Station Casinos, the premier provider
of gaming and entertainment for residents of the Las Vegas
metropolitan area, is one of the first customers to deploy Juniper's
EX2200 switches in their production network.
“Juniper's EX2200 delivers an
exceptional level of performance and functionality at a fraction of
the cost of comparable solutions,” said Bryan Miles,
Director-Networking and Telecommunications, Station Casinos. “For
all of our converged data, voice and video needs, we can count on the
EX2200 to deliver carrier-class performance and reliability in a
compact solution where space and power are at a premium.
Additionally, with Junos as the single operating system, the EX2200
will help us lower our expense of adoption and reduce our total cost
of ownership,” he added.
Complete Portfolio of
High-Performance Ethernet Switches
The EX Series Ethernet Switches advance
the economics of networking by enabling a high-performance network
infrastructure based on three key tenets-operational simplicity,
carrier-class reliability and integrated security-that deliver
ubiquitous access, reduce network downtime and enhance overall
security to shared assets across the extended enterprise.
“By broadening our portfolio to
include the new EX2200 switches, we are able to address the
entry-level Ethernet switch market with a product that can
significantly trim down the cost for customers to deliver consistent
IT network services regardless of customer size or location,” said
Sanjay Jotshi, Director, Enterprise & Channels, India &
SAARC, Juniper Networks. “We offer a very compelling value
proposition for customers looking for an entry-level, standalone
solution but demand uninterrupted, uncompromised delivery of the
applications that drive business processes.”
Junos Operating System Reduces
Complexity and Lowers TCO
The EX2200 runs the same Junos OS used
by other EX Series Ethernet Switches, as well as other Juniper
Networks routers and SRX Series Services Gateways. By utilizing a
single source operating system, Juniper delivers a consistent
implementation and operation of control-plane features across
products, ensuring unmatched carrier-class reliability and
operational simplicity. A study conducted by Forrester Consulting,
reported that companies that use Junos achieved a
41 percent reduction in overall network operations costs across
specific tasks such as planning, deploying and provisioning of
resources. For additional study results, see 'Independent Study
Shows TCO Improvements with JUNOS Implementation.'
