With a number of big Indian service providers already
outsourcing their managed network pie to companies like IBM and Nokia, US-based
Juniper Networks, a networking-focused company, is more than optimistic about
India's potential as a profiting market when it comes to positioning its
product range for managed services and broadband market in the Indian region.

"We are quite optimistic about India when it comes to
managed services and broadband roll outs. Today, the industry has two choices of
continuing growing service-specific private network or migrating to a single
infrastructure that delivers quality, security and above all-reach. This is the
concept of Infranets that we believe is going to take the industry to the next
level," informed, Girdhar Java, Country Manager, India and SAARC, Juniper.

He was addressing a select group at 'Networking India with Juniper', a
three-day event hosted for the first time in India.

Speaking about the phenomenal growth of convergence, Girdhar
said that the consumer electronics and software industries are rapidly changing
the end device and its capabilities are getting enhanced day-by-day. "As
more and more devices are now focused on connectivity, this convergence is
changing the way a network has to look at delivering services. More importantly,
before they run out of IP addresses, a lot of telecom operators are now looking
at IPv6 more seriously than ever. All this is driven by convergence," he
added.

Advanced triple play

With basic triple play of voice, video and data not getting IP friendly at
the end-customer level, a new concept of advanced triple play is set to emerge.
"This will allow many multi-service IP devices at home - delivering
services like digital entertainment and communication at a single go. This
concept will deliver the home network under the control of an end customer. All
this will be driven by better management of services," Girdhar explained.

Closely competing with global networking major Cisco, Juniper
Networks has just about completed 10 years of its existence and has become a $2
billion technology products company. The company's extraordinary growth can be
attributed to its focus on delivering 'value-based approach in traffic
processing arena'. So far Juniper has witnessed 10 acquisitions, of them five
in 2005 itself.

In its bid to ensure proper flow of business opportunity
getting drilled down for its partner community in India - US based Juniper
Networks is engaged in a lead generation campaign for its set of 100 partners
within the Indian region.

"As part of this campaign, we are contacting top
decision makers like the CEOs, CIOs and the CTOs of our existing and potential
customers in India. We sell only through channels, so the idea is to pass the
generated leads to right partners in the right locations so that it becomes easy
for them to close the deals and increase productivity as well. Additionally this
activity is also likely to boost customer pipeline for our Indian
operations," informed Girdhar.

Working with the help of Ingram Micro as its national
distributor, within India, Juniper has more than 200 customers primarily in the
enterprise space. This lead generation program is also likely to bring
uniformity and encourage process based approach when it comes to partners
targeting similar projects.

"We have given a lot of thought to the overall concept and based on the
geographical location and technological expertise have identified the partners
which will be given leads specific to their area of interest and geography of
operation," he added.
