Lalani elected Compass President

On the occasion of its 12th AGM, Compass (Computer Association of Eastern
India) elected its new President and the Executive Committee for year 2006—2007.
The association unanimously elected KL Lalani as the new President. It is the
second innings for Lalani, who is one of the founder members and also the first
president of the association (1994).

Throwing light on his plans for the association Lalani said, “As President
I would like to take up some of the burning issues like payment, credit
policies, which demand immediate attention on behalf of all our members. I am
planning to do some constructive work in these areas.” Elaborating further he
added that warranty support is always a big issue with both the partners as well
as the end users. “I am planning to hold some seminars on this issue,” he
said.

“We are also coming up with a warranty book which will include the warranty
terms and condition of almost all the IT OEMs. This will help in educa­ting
both the partners and the end users,” he informed. He is also keen to take up
other major issue like credit and payment.

Compass this time has also formed two new cells in its recently held AGM. One
is the Business and Trade Practices Committee lead by Vinay Dugar of Supreme
Technologies and the other is Sports Activities headed by Sunil Jhawar of SK
Enterprise. “This year we are also planning to do three exhibitions apart from
the Compass exhibition. One will be a PC show followed by a gaming and software
show. The fourth one will be the used PC show,” he said.

Lalani also has very ambitious plans for the benefit of all Compass members.
“I feel that there should be a separate premises for Compass at GC Avenue
itself with all modern amenities. This will help members to conduct any types of
trade related meets or events,” he clarified. On the same day Lalani and
Bhandari also released the latest version of Compass Membership Directory.
