Lanner launches RISC-based firewall appliance

Responding to an escalating demand for comprehensive security solutions, Lanner India has launched a dedicated appliance
for the discerning Network Security Application (NSA) developers. The FW3500 is a 100 percent RISC
based firewall. According to the company release, strengths of FW3500 lies in its full source code for boot loader and Linux kernel. It
effectively supports reduction in time consumption for application software development
and is designed to provide a powerful platform for developers to flexibly integrate any application that the SOHO and SME market requires. 

FW-3500 is a mini-desktop network security device, equipped with One WAN port, five 10/100Mbps LAN ports and a
serial port. The FW-3500 contains a 32bit RISC core processor, 64MB of SDRAM and a 16MB NAND flash. It is
integrated with a 32-bit RISC microprocessor core with a number of peripherals, including interrupt controller, timer, clock
generation controller, 10M Ethernet WAN and five ports 10/100 LAN switch controller. 

The FW-3500 integrates two Ethernet MACs and one internal 10M BaseT Phy. According to the company, besides
Ethernet, which provides the connectivity to Internet and home network, the high performance processor with high-speed
memory bus interface can provide high data through put on the network applications.

FW-3500 support NAND Flash (block type) controller interfaces, System Boot from NAND Flash and the development kit
has Linux kernel, booting code, Tera term, TFTP server etc. The product is designed for low to mid range
networking applications like routers, firewalls, mobile radius gateway and residential gateways.
