Laptop theft of Rs 5.5 lakh in Nagpur

Nagpur: In a shocking incident in Nagpur, burglars broke into Supra Computer Systems situated on VIP Road, Dharampeth and stole 15 laptops worth Rs 5.5 lakh. The incident, which took place on the night of Nov 3rd 2009 was discovered by the owner of the shop the next morning.

Talking about the theft, Sunil Mayekar, Proprietor, Supra Computer Systems said, “The thieves ran away only with laptops in the shop. Printers, cartridges, RAMs and other computer spare parts were left untouched.”

According to Mayekar, his company has already e-mailed members of the Computer Association of Nagpur (CAN), asking them to remain vigilant. The company is keen to increase awareness among their customers about the incident so that they do not fall prey to burglars' tricks.

“I have mailed to all the distributors and sub-distributors in my region and have alerted them in advance,” he added.

When inquired if he thinks someone known to him may be involved in the incident, Mayekar was not sure about it. At the moment, he has filed an FIR with the local police which is looking into the matter.

Supra Computer Systems doesn't have a watchman, which according to Mayekar could have further eased the entire burglary. He now plans to install a strong security system at his shop.
