Lauren Infotech rolls out its own software product

Mumbai-based systems integrator, Lauren Information Technologies has finally ventured into the packaged software space. And this is not by reselling products of other vendors, but by rolling out its software. Called NetWorth, this product is a portfolio management software and is largely targeted at customers in the stock markets, mutual fund and other investment business.

The company is looking at June 15th to commercially make the product available. This SI has been working on the product development for over one and a half year and is now hopeful of making a small but significant entry into the software product space. Typically, very few Indian companies are active in this space and Lauren believes that with some luck and hard 

work it would be able to occupy a credible position.

"We are in close talks with vendors like IBM to offer these products as a bundle with their systems and they too have shown positive signs," informs Rawlin Pinto, CMD, Lauren Information Technologies. He also talks about selling this product through a channel network and adds, "We would be ensuring a retail presence for NetWorth as well and hence tying up with channel artners for the same purpose.”

However, Rawlin is keeping very realistic targets for the product sale. "We would be happy to sell about 1,000 licenses through our retail channel and have about five enterprise clients- which we would service directly-by March 2005," remarks he.

Through retail network, the product would be made available at around Rs 3,500 per user icense. Rawlin also informs about the company adding more functionalities to make it a complete wealth management tool. "Currently this product takes care of mutual funds and we would be adding features for derivatives sometime soon. And being a completely web-based product this would attract many a users on counts of greater security and easy-to-use features," explains he.
