LCC introduces PCs in West Bengal

Kolkata: LCC Infotech announced the launch of its products in West Bengal. A
few months back the company had introduced its PC range in Orissa. "Our
strategy is to cover one state at a time, settle there and then venture to the
next. This might take some more time to expand our reach but it will help us
strengthen our presence in each area," opined Sidharth Lakhotia, CEO, LCC
Infotech.

LCC has launched an entire new range of desktops in West Bengal, however the
sub-20k PC, available in Orissa, have not been introduced here. Ranging between
Rs 11,000 to 39,000 the new desktop models are based on Intel platform. "We
have models featuring the entire range of Intel processors from Celeron to quad
core," said Lakhotia. To cater to the youth, the company has also launched a
range of designer PCs based on certain themes.

To start with, the company has launched two models of LCC laptops. One is
Intel Celeron-based and the other is based on Intel Core2Duo chipset at a price
point of approximately Rs 23,000 and Rs 29,000, respectively.

Meanwhile, LCC is also looking to strengthen its after-sales service
structure. "Like in Orissa, we have appointed our engineers at different
strategic locations across Bengal. These engineers are being trained extensively
in our hardware and networking," he informed.

"We would be going for mass campaign through our existing and alumni
student base and the training centers to create awareness about computers and
how beneficial this technology is for users," explained Lakhotia.

According to him, PC penetration is still very poor in India and due to the
lack of awareness there's a huge untapped market. "The market is huge. If we
can succeed in capturing a small share of this huge market through our PC
education campaigns we will achieve quite a lot. We have already started this
process in Orissa and we have plans to do it in each state where we launch our
products," he added further.

LCC has appointed Alco Infotech as its distributor for West Bengal. Shortly,
the company will be launching LCC PC in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand and
northeast. "By the end of the current FY we will have our presence in the
east. Next fiscal we will be moving on to other states beyond eastern India,"
said Lakhotia. "Our strength has always been the upcountry market. In Orissa
we have already established our brand and we are pretty hopeful of West Bengal
and other states as well," he concluded.
