LG emerges leader in monitor market: IDC

LG Electronics India announced that it has achieved the number one position
in the Indian PC monitor market as per the recent quarterly PC monitor review
for AMJ 2005 published by leading research agency IDC. The report places LG at
the top in terms of market share in both CRTs and LCDs, closely followed by
Samsung. In LCDs, LG had a share of 14.9% while Samsung followed with 14.5%,
BenQ had 8.7% while HCL had 7.3% and Philips 3.7%.

In the CRT market, LG led with 28.5%, while Samsung and HCL followed. This is
a turnaround from the earlier quarter when LG trailed in both CRT and LCD
markets. Samsung had been ranked number one in both CRTs and LCDs in the first
quarter (JFM 2005). The company had 13.9% while HCL had come second with 11.7%
and LG third with 10.5% in the earlier

quarter.

In CRTs, Samsung led with 24.7% with LG trailing behind at 24.1% and HCL with
11.3%. R Manikandan, GM-sales and marketing, IT products, LG Electronics India,
said, "This is a great achievement for us. In a short span, we have reached
such heights. This growth can be attributed to our products and bundle offers
backed with nationwide service support. We will be strengthening our penetration
levels in the country by further focusing on B- and C- class cities. We will
also constantly keep improving our facilities and technology to meet and even
exceed our customers' requirements on quality products."

LG said it had developed an after-sales service network both on call and
web-based. It also has 220 authorized service centers covering 150 locations
throughout the country.
