LG projects hikes CRT monitor prices

LG Electronics India (LGEIL) has projected a hike in the prices of its 15" and 17" CRT monitors. The price of 15" will go up by Rs 100 and that of 17" will be increased by Rs. 150, from 1st June, 2004.

Talking about the hike in prices, R Manikandan, Deputy General Manager, Product Group Head--IT Products, LGEIL says, "The hike in monitor prices is a global phenomenon owing to shortage of glass shell used for manufacturing of CRT. To counter the effect of the price hike, LG will be announcing marketing programs and schemes that will benefit partners."

Although, there was a marginal increase in the prices in May, LG backed this with bundle offers like an Internet Package free with every 15" and 17" monitor. LG is planning to launch some channel marketing programs to ease the effect of the hike and also push sales. Industry sources say that the CRT monitor prices are likely to rise further and this trend will continue till September, 2004.
