Linksys debuts wireless broadband router for Rs 2,299

Linksys announced the launch of its first wireless broadband router
customized for Indian home users - Wireless-G Home Router (WRH54G). The WRH54G
comes with a dual-antenna design for supporting better wireless performance.
This integrated wireless-G broadband router is designed to address the needs of
the local users. In addition to the high transmission speed of 54Mbps and other
basic functions, the WRH54G offers customers with customized features that
highlight its "Made for India" label.

It ssupports on-demand and time-based access control for better management of
internet access to ensure consumers are able to monitor and control usage of
broadband facility. It has a flexible wireless radio control, with on/off
control scheduler to support multiple scheduling, and helping to safeguard home
wireless access. A build-in web based setup wizard helps users to setup the
WRH54G easily and quickly.

According to Sanjeev Gupta, Regional Sales Director, Asia Pacific at Linksys,
"WRH54G is designed for Indian users, who want flexibility and a
cost-effective way to adopt wireless broadband. It will help accelerate the
deployment of wireless broadband network in India while further strengthening
Linksys' leadership in the Indian market."

Gupta continued, "The WRH54G is unique in its features that help
consumers to easily build a wireless broadband network in addition to economize
on the way that they use it. It provides user-friendly Internet access control;
supports PPPoE connect on demand, connection scheduler, which help users to
manage their Internet access time. With WRH54G, users can save both energy and
cost."

The WRH54G is a wireless access point, designed to interface with standard
Wireless-G (802.11g) and Wireless-B (802.11b) equipments. There is also an
internal 4-port full duplex 10/100 Ethernet switch, which is capable to connect
more wire-based Ethernet network equipments or to cascade with switch and expand
into more switch ports. In addition the WRH54G is designed to enable the entire
customer networks to share single high-speed wire-based network or DSL for
Internet access. The WRH54G also supports 128-bit industrial-strength encryption
to help protect data and privacy. Enabling the security features is easy with
the Linksys web browser-based configuration utility. The Linksys wireless-G home
router (WRH54G) is priced at Rs 2,299.
