Microsoft bringing global SIs together on processes

As software business dynamics requires complex involvement of global system integrators - Microsoft Corporation is working its way to create a global platform for big system integrators. The company has recently formed Global System Integrators Council under its Microsoft Solution Framework (MSF) program and its global system integrators like Accenture, EDS, Unisys have already joined hands with Microsoft to create standards based processes executable at global level.

"Process implementation is a big part of a system integrator's area of operation. Microsoft is moving ahead with this initiative in order to have rational unified processes in place and work on different models so as not to impose processes on a customer. The whole idea is to design and develop easy to maintain process in association with these global system Integrators," explained Microsoft Corporation developer platform marketing group senior product manager Bindia
Hallauer.

Two of the biggest system integrators in India - Bangalore based Infosys Technologies and Wipro - have already joined this elite system integrators club and two of the three top notch SIs in India are all set to align themselves by partnering with Microsoft on this front.

"India is always on our map as the country has some of the big names in terms of worldwide software implementation. While Wipro and Infosys have already joined hands with us on this front, two of the top three SIs in India are going to be with us in the coming one month," she added.

Together with these global SIs, the Redmond based software maker will work towards creating common base process framework designed for end-customers. "There are a lot of areas where this can benefit customers. For instance when we work closely with SIs, we can create process templates that can allow customers to have different certification processes embedded in their systems. This will reduce time for them to go for a SEI CMM certification," Hallauer explained.
