Mumbai: In keeping with its tradition of passing on the baton for the post of President to the VP, Pune's Computer and Media Dealers Association (CMDA) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 19 at Hotel Fortune in Lawasa.

In all likelihood, the current VP-Naresh Lalwani of Cyber Net IT will take over as President of CMDA. However, to ensure participation of other members into the executive council ranks, the association may carry out an election procedure.

The association has also roped in Microsoft for the event as sponsor. Following the meeting, the new committee will be formed. Sharing information around the AGM, Shital Nahar, President, CMDA, Pune elaborated, “For the first time in the 18-year history of CMDA a vendor (Microsoft) will be sponsoring our AGM. The vendor has been alloted a 45 minute slot during the meeting wherein they will address our members and promote the usage of genuine software. The agenda during the meeting will be to look into the details of the last AGM and then read out the balance sheet before our members.”

Nahar further mentioned that it has been a tradition with CMDA not to hold elections for the formation of a committee and the VP of the association automatically takes over the post of the President. However, the association will look at holding elections for those posts that are vacated by the existing committee members. In order to contend for a given post, the concerned person is required to have served a two year term as the member of the association.

Currently, CMDA has 13 posts in its committee. Last year, the association had introduced a special cell (management seminar) in order to promote itself further and as part of management seminar, the association went ahead to hold three seminars successfully.
