Millennium goes big on Delhi Govt project

Millennium, a Delhi-based manufacturer of Millennium brand of computer has
partnered with the Delhi Government for its recently launched Gyan Jyoti Scheme.
Under this scheme, it will provide PCs to Government employees by institutional
arrangement with Bank of India.

Gyan Jyoti is a three-month long scheme and will be running in seven states
including Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and J&K. The
soft loan scheme is an inter-organizational arrangement between Bank Of India
and technology developer-Intel.

Under this Gyan Jyoti or Government Assisted PCs Program (GAPP) scheme,
Millennium brand of PCs (desktops) will be supplied to Delhi and NCR-based
government offices employees, including class I-IV at a subsidized price,"
informed Varinder Singh Jawanda, MD of Millennium.

He also added that that there would be a discount of 10-15% than open market
PCs pricing. Varinder expects to sell 60% of these PCs to eighty to one lakh
population of Delhi government employees.

He further informed, "Currently the Millennium's dedicated
seven-member team including marketing and sales members along

with the outsource agency are aggressively concentrating at the awareness and
visibility of the Gyan Jyoti program. It is through various road shows, in-house
seminars and exhibition at government offices."

The Millennium sales team will be available at Delhi Government office
complexes and at residential places to explain and promote the scheme. Under the
scheme, Millennium will be providing VSNL broadband facility for initial 30-days
on the

procurement.

The extensive dealer network that the company has will provide the service
support and backup to those employees opting for Millennium desktops. Service
engineers are placed with dealers and to provide easy installation and service
assistance.

Millennium is talking to printers companies, which will be bundled, with
these PCs as per the employee's requirement. These PCs are designed with
special configurations at a reasonable pricing as per the employees'
designation. Varinder also added that if any government employee wants to buy
laptops, then talks are on to get the final approval from Intel and Delhi
Government to fulfill the demand for the same.
