New Delhi: Expanding its product portfolio, New Delhi-based Modi Peripherals announced the addition of Pitney Bowes to its current list. The vendor has appointed Modi as its regional distributor (RD) of its entire range of products in the North region. Anuj Modi, Director, Modi Peripherals stated, “As a distribution company we are focusing on IT products that will give good bottomline to our partners and be a value-add to our customers.”
Speaking about the appointment Amit Priyadarshi, National Manager-Channels, Pitney Bowes said, “This is the first time that we are going through the channel. Our approach is two pronged. We will be appointing around seven distributors in the country who will operate through their resellers. We also have a national distributor-East-based Kilburn, for fanking machines.”
On their selection of Modi Peripherals, Priyadarshi said, “They have a good presence in North. Also, they had a very well-balanced synergy between trading and end-customer sales, which is something we found not many partners have.
For the East India market, Lalani Infotech has been appointed. By December 2009 Pitney Bowes will finalize the names of the remaining RDs. “The reason we decided to go with the RDs was because they are very bullish about our products and are getting good margins on them. So they are optimistic about selling these products which are not run of the mill,” pointed out Priyadarshi.
Since these products are fairly new to the market it would require some amount of training for partners to get accustomed to them. Keeping this in mind Pitney Bowes recently conducted a program in North to train their partners. Shedding light on its investment on the channel, Priyadarshi commented, “Initially we are looking at doing these training initiatives on a monthly basis. Afterwards we will look at decreasing the frequency to quarterly programs.”
Pitney Bowes is a mailstream technology company that helps organizations to simplify and manage the complex flow of mail and documents (both print and electronic), so that it's more integrated, effective and efficient. Modi Peripherals was the first RD they appointed in the country. “About 70 percent of our sales will be shifted to channels in the near future. It may even exceed that. But there are a few accounts that will remain close to us,” noted Priyadarshi.
Another development in Modi Peripherals is the appointment as sub-disti of Cisco home products for Delhi region. Modi shared that they currently have about 800 plus resellers in their network, and will look at expanding this number in the next 20 days. In the meantime the new products will be pushed through the current set of resellers. Modi Peripherals has three branches in the North-one each in UP, Haryana and Delhi
