MP association to hold meet with Microsoft

Moving ahead with the drive to curb piracy in the market, Microsoft has sent
a legal notice to two channel partners in Indore. The IT association of Madhya
Pradesh, MP IT and Telecom Association (MPITTA) said that it would provide all
possible support to these partners. The association members at a meeting decided
that they would collectively take the matter to Microsoft and would try to get
the best possible solution.

“The dealers have got a 150 page notice from Microsoft and have also got
summons from the court. They have also been asked to pay Rs 20 lakh for selling
pirated software. We held a discussion with the association members and will be
talking to MS soon,” explained Manish Goyal, President, MPITTA. The association
has sought legal support to help decide whether the two parties go for mutual
settlement or take the case to court.

The association said that they need clarity and support from Microsoft, if
they want us to promote original software among the buyers. “It is very
necessary that we get proper support from Microsoft if they are asking us to
promote original software. In our meeting with them, we would make everything
clear so that this harassment on dealers in Indore is not repeated,” said Goyal.
