NBIF completes its registration and committee formation

Siliguri got its first registered IT association as North Bengal IT Forum (NBIF)
completed its registration. Since its formation six months ago, NBIF received
good response from dealers across North Bengal. This is reflected in its member
strength, which has increased from the initial 50 odd members to 70.

"NBIF was formed with certain objectives and we have already started our
operation based on that. Now with a better strength we are getting ready to act
on as per our objectives in a much organized manner," said Debojyoti Gupta,
Secretary of NBIF. "We have already conducted a couple of dealer meets and
activities related to anti-piracy. We have also registered our forum and NBIF is
the first and the only registered IT association in Siliguri," he added.

One of the key objectives for NBIF is to promote IT in remote villages and
spread computer literacy there. 'We want to distribute free PCs to remotely
located schools so that those who cannot afford PCs get a chance to learn
computers. We are presently working on this project and will start its execution
very soon," informed Shankar Dhar, Executive Director of NBIF.

Apart from that, a forum was also formed with an objective to promote smaller
dealers and resellers who don't have an operational account with distributors.
It has already been successful in introducing few such dealer companies who are
small in size but are doing a good job.

The forum has elected one executive body and has formed some committees in
order to execute different activities under its aegis. "Although we have to
form an executive body which is essential to maintain certain formalities, the
uniqueness of NBIF is that the hierarchy is not maintained between the members.
All its members are equally powerful and are actively taking part in all kinds
of activities done by the forum," stated Gupta.

Accordingly, Gagan Joshi of Landmark Office Systems has been chosen as the
President, Dipak Agarwal of Tejpal and Sons is the VP, Debojyoti Gupta of
Universal Computer is the Secretary while Krishnendu Ghosh of Milestone and
Jayanta Halder of Genesys Infotech are the respective Joint Secretary and
Treasurer.

Apart from that NBIF has also elected various Executive Directors under whom
certain committees have been formed. The Executive Directors are Asim Khan from
Technocrat Infotech, Soumen Roy from Tech Data Incorporation, Manish Mahato from
Origin Infomedia, Amitabha Bose from International Powertronics, Shankar Dhar
from Protech Computers, Sabyasachi from Hav- It- Consultant, Promod Agarwal from
Excel Computer, Nabendu Dey from Chaya Computer Career, Abhishek Bhaduri from
Feedback and Gautam Agarwal from Computerland.

The 'Realization and Legal committee' headed by Gagan Joshi looks after the
transparency between the relation among the vendors and the dealers, payment
protection and warranty issues. The 'Meeting and Entertainment committee' headed
by Sabyasachi is responsible for planning various internal meetings and
activities within NBIF.

The 'Public Relation and Media committee' headed by Debojyoti Gupta takes
care of all kinds of PR, end user, promotional and media related activities. The
'Finance committee' headed by Jayanta Halder and Manish Mahato handle various
fund raising activities for the forum. The committee will also play the role of
a guarantor on behalf of any member in case he requires any loan for business
purpose from banks but is unable to provide required security.

The Literacy promotion and welfare committee - headed by Amitabha Bose and
Soumen Roy - will organize different social welfare activities. The
'Correspondence and greetings committee' headed by Shankar Dhar will take care
of all kinds of internal correspondence and maintain member status

The 'Website development committee' - headed by Abhishek Bhaduri - is
responsible for launching and maintaining a dynamic website for NBIF and its
members which is currently under construction. The 'Editing committee' - headed
by Nabendu Dey manages all kinds of editorial contents or newsletters for NBIF.
The 'Selection committee will be responsible for new member selection and
maintaining the validity of the existing members.
