Canon launches imagePRESS V770: Empowering India’s print-for-pay entrepreneurs

Canon India, a digital imaging solutions provider, has announced the launch of the imagePRESS V770, a next-generation colour production cut-sheet printer targeted at print-for-pay providers and commercial production jobbers. Engineered specifically to address changing demands in India’s commercial print economy, the device focuses on high output quality, versatile media handling, and operational efficiency within compact production environments.

Media handling and velocity benchmarks

The system is built to provide stable paper feeding within tight spaces, allowing print service providers to handle diverse, short-run jobs with quick turnaround timelines. It supports a broad array of applications ranging from standard marketing collaterals and menus to labels and synthetic media.

Performance and media handling metrics for the imagePRESS V770 include:

• Plain and Thick Media (52gsm to 220gsm): Achieves production print speeds of up to 81 pages per minute (ppm).

• Coated Media (70gsm to 180gsm): Delivers operating speeds of up to 77 ppm.

• Heavyweight & Speciality Media: Supports printing on Uncoated, Coated, Textured, and Synthetic surfaces up to 350gsm.

• Air-Assisted Feeding: Features a newly engineered air-assisted stack bypass with a 250-sheet capacity, designed to stabilise continuous coated paper feeding, reduce operator touchpoints, and minimise paper jams.

Localised image quality refinements

To cater to specific colour expectations within the Indian commercial market, Canon has integrated several visual refinements into the digital press:

• Tuned Colour Profiles: Optimised to deliver more vivid representations of reds and blues, which are popular in local marketing and retail prints.

• Scratch Resistant Mode: Provides enhanced durability and abrasion resistance on label and synthetic media types.

• 200-Line Screen Option: Introduced to produce smoother colour gradations and minimise moiré patterns during high-density print runs.

Embedded workflow via PRISMAsync LITE

The digital press introduces an integrated workflow management platform called PRISMAsync LITE. By embedding this software directly into the system, the device unifies job scheduling, colour control, and real-time device monitoring within a single interface. The built-in framework eliminates the need for external hardware controllers, streamlining space requirements and simplifying general production management for operators.

Strategic market position

The introduction of the imagePRESS V770 bridges a structural gap in Canon India’s production portfolio, sitting between entry-level digital devices and high-end industrial presses.
