Now, Ranchi dealers form an association

The idea first took form in the The DQ Week IT Panchayat, which was held in the city in March. Now four months down the line the community of computer dealers in the city has finally decided to form an association  with the target of expanding its influence across the state. The association has been mooted with a view to promote fraternity and unity among the channel community and address grievances in a united form.

Speaking about the move, Vivek Singhania of Ranchi-based Computer India Corporation said, "The idea to form an association sprang up after dealers in the region realized the need to address problems in an equivocal manner. It will not only enhance the performance of the market, but will also boost the networking capacity of the region."

Already, 42 members have voted for the association and have joined it. Titled Jharkhand Computer Welfare Association (JCWA), dealers in the region have already applied for the registration number.

"We have already applied for the registration certificate from the government and are awaiting response. We hope that in one month's time the association will formally be in place. For the time being, the association is restricted to Ranchi only, but we plan on extending its reach to the entire state," said, Pawan Kumar of Computer Valley.

Although members of the association have not yet set up any guidelines or formed any rule-book, Kumar clarified that new affiliation to the association will require an equivocal consent of the existing members. Also, interim portfolios have been created to facilitate coordination. Sushil Kumar of Micro Computers has been appointed as the Interim President of the body while Ashish Jha of Technocrat is the Interim Secretary and Abhishek Kumar of Microsys has been appointed as the Interim Treasurer.

"For the time being, an interim body has been elected to facilitate the birth of JCWA. Within three months of its formation, we will decide on the structure and go in for elections," Kumar said.

"We have invited dealers, distributors and the vendors in the region to join us in this initiative. From the distribution space, Rashi Peripherals, Supertron, Caltron and SES apart from Ingram Micro, Redington, Cyberstar and Compuage have already joined us. Now, it is the turn of the vendors to associate themselves with JCWA", Kumar added.

In their endeavors to spread their reach across the state, members of the association are hopeful of coordination with GITA, the Jamshedpur IT association. Members in the association have opined that JCWA will work on a cooperative model. They also claim that after the JCWA is legalized, it will be sending invitations to dealers across the state, with an open invitation to GITA to join hands for cooperation.
