nVidia will soon have its logo modified and an official
announcement to this is expected in September. The new logo will continue to
have the 'Eye' symbol on it, but will be a lot simpler and will have the
name 'nVIDIA' written differently.
Revealing this, Nicolas Nithart, Head of Marcom EMEA, nVidia,
said, "Currently, the company has its starting letter written in lower
case, the new look may have this written differently. The new logo will clear
the confusion, if any, on how to pronounce the name. The logo will surely make
it easier to pronounce the name nVidia."
It has been using the current logo for almost ten years now.
"Ten years is a long time," said Nicolas, adding, "We will retain
the 'eye' symbol as it represents the vision factor that plays a big role in
presenting visual element in all our products."
Meanwhile, nVidia has been demonstrating its aggressiveness
in the Indian market with a spree of India-focused strategies. "It is a
strategic move to broaden the Indian market's awareness of graphics and
digital media technology with a long-term perspective," said Alain Tiquet,
Group Director, Marketing EMEA & India, nVidia.
nVidia's commitment to strengthen its presence in India is
evident from the spree of activities done recently. It recently held a gaming
event at Crossroads mall in Mumbai in association with Living Digital (A
CyberMedia publication). The event had over 2,000 gaming enthusiasts
participating in the world's first ever gaming event totally on Scalable Link
Interface (SLI) platform.
Not long ago, it also opened an India Product Development
Center in Bangalore. This office also is supported by sales and marketing
activities.
The latest in the list of activities was the launch of its
first state-of-the-art experience zone in Mumbai's Lamington Road area. This
demo center called the 'nVidia Experience' acts as an outlet for the
end-customer to touch and feel its entire product range. "Very soon we will
open similar 'Experience' centers in Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai,"
said Alain.
The experience zones will also showcase the most recently
launched GeForce 7800 GTX graphics processing unit (GPU), which has more than
300 million transistors. "The GeForce 7800 GTX GPU is the most advanced
graphic processor ever built," said Alain.
This GPU delivers up to 200 gigaflops of shading horsepower,
which is twice the floating point shader of the previous generation GeForce 6800
Ultra. Additionally, this GPU contain 24 pipelines, operates at 430 MHz core
clock, supports 600 MHz DDR3 memory, and the same power requirements as the
previous generation.
And the most surprising part is that, all these features and performance
comes for almost the same price as GeForce 6800, which is around Rs 32,000
(exclusive of local levies)! Surely not good news for all those who brought the
GeForce 6800 recently.
