Paresh Patel is the new BITA president.

Gujarat: Gujarat-based Baroda Information Technology Association (BITA) has elected Praesh Patel as its President. Patel served as treasurer last year, and was elected unopposed in the elections held on April 18. It may be recalled that the term of the last office bearers expired on March 31.

Post election, Patel said that his priority will be to develop Baroda as an IT hub in Gujarat, so that local channel partners got better business opportunities in the region. "My experience will help BITA as I have been closely working with the government on various IT projects," he said. He also wants to organize various events for the welfare of channel community including training programs and health check-ups.

All 235 members voted Purav Choksi as Vice President. He defeated Harshad Patel in a closely fought battle. Choksi was the Secretary of the association earlier. Similarly, former Joint Secretary, Nilesh Joshi was elected as Honorary Secretary.

Another former office bearer Dipil Patil was elected as Joint Secretary. Patil, who was Vice President in the outgoing committee, defeated Hemendra Doshi. Rajiv Patel, Jayendra Seth, Vikram Shah, Piyush Patel, Tejas Shah and Manoj Shah were elected as the executive committee members.

The outgoing president said, "To make the election free and fair we had appointed two former presidents of the organization to conduct it. The election was held peacefully."
