PCAIT re-elects outgoing office bearers

The newly elected executive council (EC) of Progressive Channels Association
of IT (PCAIT) recently held its first meeting to draft the objectives for the
year ahead. The association has decided that its main agenda will be to take
PCAIT to a national level, thereby tying up with other local and regional
associations across the country.

The association is also gearing up to face the gray market issue raised by
Samsung. The members have clarified that PCAIT fully supports ethical trade
practices but it needs more clarification from the vendor on how it terms
parallel imports as illegal.

During the meeting, a unanimous decision of the team was to re-elect the five
outgoing office bearers. RK Malhotra, President, OA Compserve Group; Ranjan
Chopra, CMD, Team Computers; Keshav Madhav, MD, Vidur and Co; Saket Kapur, MD,
Green Vision and Sujeet Narula, CEO, Associated Business Computers were
re-appointed as President, VP, Treasurer, General Secretary and Joint Secretary
respectively.

“In our meeting we observed the high level of enthusiasm among members and
everything proceeded in a fair manner. There are new members also with us and we
are confident that the year ahead will be full of developments,” expressed Kapur.

The new members who have joined the association are Alok Gupta from Unistal,
Amit Palta from Universal Technologies, JP Bansal from Frontline and Prarthana
Gupta from Cache Technologies. Partners who are now no longer a part of the EC
are S Nautiyal of Spark Technologies, Rajesh Aggarwal of Micromax and Anil
Sachdeva of Kadam Marketing.

The association has appointed two ad hoc commit­tees-Legal and Ethical
Committee and Publicity and Web Committee. The first committee, headed by Saket
Kapur also has Anil K Mangla, Amit Palta and Prarthana Gupta while the latter
will be headed by Alok Gupta (Unistal) and also has Sanjiv Bhavnani, Mangla,
Kapur and Asim Raina as members.

“The third committee will look after the growth of the association and will
taken care by Malhotra,” said Kapur.

What will be the major focus of PCAIT this year? RK Malhotra This year we are planning to increase our tie-ups with other associations across the country in places like Mumbai, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Kanpur, Lucknow and Allahabad. With these tie-ups, if any issue about any dealer in the country happens in Delhi, it will be taken care of by PCAIT. Similarly, if a dealer from Delhi faces any problem in any other place, the association in that region will look after the issue. We are aiming to reach a national status, which will unite the associations and help partners avoid grassroot problems in their business. What are the biggest challenges in front of the association? In the past we have observed that member participation during activities was not up to the mark. We are planning to organize our objectives in a way that demands for active involvement of all the members of the association. What are the activities you are looking forward to achieving this year? There are some basic industry problems of partners that will be dealt with more seriously this year. We will also be more active in our relationships with other associations. We will also make our website, www.pcait.org, a common platform for members to share any issue with each other. The site, which is dedicated to the late Ashish Aggarwal of Trifin Technologies, will be operational in the next three days.
