With the much hyped launch of Intel's
second generation core processor chips that promise faster computing
speed and low power consumption, the global chip giant is optimistic
about the market opportunities seemingly giving
sleepless nights to its nearest competitor. The Genuine Intel Dealer
(GID), Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or Independent Software
Vendor (ISV) have already shown keen interest in the chip major's
latest innovative offering. More than 500 laptop and desktop PC
platform designs from all the major computer makers worldwide are
already lined up for the new processors.

technology, Intel HD Graphics and Intel Wireless Display, the Intel
Core i3, i5 and i7 processors are set to offer a unique
user-experience. R Sivakumar, MD-Sales and Marketing, Intel South
Asia said that 10 million PCs have been consumed in 2010 and India
has become the eighth largest country in PC shipments, and is
expected to be among the top three in the next few years. The unique
features, including Intel Advanced Vector Extensions which can power
visuals also reduces power consumption for better battery life with
the sleek design making the new chipsets attractive. Compared to
previous generations, content creation is up to 42 percent faster
coupled with the gaming performance speed enhanced by upto 50
percent.

R Ravichandran, Director-Sales and
World Ahead, Intel South Asia said that, they are training and
educating the partners and sales force on new path-breaking
technology advancements so that the end-users, as well as vendors can
realize the power and capabilities of the new product line. Based on
the 'Sandy Bridge' architecture with specialized authentication and
encryption hardware and firmware, the upcoming second generation Dell
laptop range will be inducting this range of new processors March
onwards. The move will
be followed by HCL, Toshiba, Lenovo and Wipro. Imaging and printing
biggie, Hewlett-Packard will also be introducing new products based
on the new Intel processor family in the next two months.

Infosytems said that, the HCL-Intel relationship has always been very
strategic and they have been the frontrunners in adopting the latest
Intel technology platform. “Commensurate with the past, we have
launched our second generation Quad Core based laptop and desktop
products on the day of launch of this platform. We have partnered
with Intel on all major initiatives for Indian markets and across all
hardware form factors,” said Paul. According to him, the
consumption patterns clearly indicate a recent shift towards heavy
amount of access to online audio and video content by mainstream
users.

Dell has been aggressive in bringing
new technologies that enhance the PC experience for consumers. The
company is committed to deliver new dimensions in performance,
entertainment, mobility and gaming and they aim at providing their
customers with the best experiences ever imagined. Mahesh Bhalla,
GM-Consumer and SMBs, Dell India said that the launch of the Intel
second generation Core processors is exciting for them due to its
incredible visual performance. “For us this is a big opportunity as
video creation and consumption through PC gains more popularity.
Already, we are seeing an increasing trend of people watching movies
on their laptops while they are travelling, in flight or while in the
car. With Wireless Display, we will enable video sharing and watching
through their
laptops at home from a personal entertainment device to a home media
player,” quoted Bhalla.

Further, according to Vinay Awasthi,
Director-Personal Systems Group, HP India, the new second
generation processors are highly scalable implying a forthcoming
launch of numerous models in the coming months. “We will come up
with a multitude of computing products in next two months, powered by
new Intel chipsets,” said Awasthi. “Our upcoming range of laptops
and desktops will offer amazing speed, high-performance graphics with
the next-generation Intel Core i3, i5 and Core i7 Dual Core and Quad
Core processors. We will be enabling all our consumer product

Dell has always worked very closely
with Intel in an effort to bring the best technologies to the
consumers. This partnership has further been extended not only in the
consumer space but in the enterprise and SMBs segment as well. “We
have already started the transition with the Alienware brand, which
is a brand for gamers and tech enthusiasts, to the second generation
Core i7 Quad Core processor with the Alienware M17x notebook and
Alienware Aurora desktop. This will be followed by our other brand
lines like the Inspiron, XPS, Vostro and Latitude moving to second
generation Core i5 and i3 later in the quarter,” added Bhalla. Amar
Babu, MD, Lenovo India opined that the second generation Core
processor family promises to offer a better set of visual
capabilities that's now seamlessly integrated with
the processor performance. “We are very excited to bring to market
a set of products based on these new processors, which will offer the
consumers an unparalleled and entertaining PC experience,” said
Babu.

Also, Eric Kuo, MD, MSI Computer India
said that, they are optimistic about the Turbo Boost 2.0 technology
in these new processors and the all new visual capabilities that
these processors will bring to their new range of products. “MSI
will bring to consumers PCs that now offer superlative processor
performance with stunning visuals,” added Kuo.
