Solution Champ: Compton Computers

Delhi-based Compton Computers is one of the key players in power management solutions with its niche in powering ATM's via alternate power for banks. Its investment has been over Rs 1 crore during FY13 and it was chiefly in the following sectors: infrastructure, resources, equipment, stocks, testing equipments and customer proof of concepts. Company's investment this year has gone up 25%.

COMPTON'S Power management solution automates secure, time-based power control and enables powerful analytics reporting of energy cost, temperature, active power, line capacity and carbon footprint. . With Emerson and APC as its partners Compton Computers does business of around 13-15 crore rupees worth of projects every year in power solutions. Keeping at par with its market reach, Compton has done over hundred power projects across India in 2012-13. These are broadly in banking, manufacturing and NGO industry segments. Banking industry being the most lucrative, according to Compton's business experience, it intends to strengthen its specilization around the same sector and grow in this domain. It has also increased its product portfolio by adding eight more resources to take in account its growth around this vertical. This year it has also tied up with Eaton to further its growth.

Accutech Power Solutions
This 15-year old Mumbai-basedSI with a turnover in excess of Rs 100 crore has been banking largely on Emerson for its power solutions. Since its inception, Accutech has been one of the most trusted business partners of Emerson; not surprisingly, it has been recognized as the platinum partner for Emerson Network Power. "To Retain and to Build Business on Customer Trust" has been the motto of V B Desai, MD, Accutech Power Solutions, and his team all along. Not just Emerson, Accutech has also been one of the largest SIs involved with Schneider Digilink. One mantra for Accutech's success has been its capability to showcase existing customer deployments as PoCs to potential customers.

 

SIMI ELECTRONICS
Simi Electronics witnessed a hike in its power solution business in FY13. It grew by 20% in providing end to end solutions in power conditioning and management. They incurred profit worth Rs 4 crore this year.

Simi is mainly concentrated in Vidharbha and Nagpur regions in Gujarat and this year it hopes to expand to other cities as well.

It has done several large projects in software parks, IT industry, hospital business, schools and collages.
Though market requirement remains stagnant, they ventured into new industries for busniess opportunities.  The company is mainly into supplying of UPS systems which is the key requirement in every industry.

DKS INFO SYSTEMS
It earned revenue worth Rs 60 lakh in power solutions in FY13. This revenue was largely generated through its big projects, namely BHEL, thermal hydro project, blood banks and a couple of universities, in government sector.

However, its business has gone down by 10-15% in power solution this year. Reason being, low corporate market. There fore they are eying different projects in defence establishments to generate revenue for the upcoming year.

In spite of the slow revenue, they have expanded to other cities like Haridwar, Meerut, and Chandigarh. They have also added around 10 people in their workforce.

HIPATH NETCOM SERVICES
Uttaranchal based Hipath Netcom Services witnessed a very flat growth in FY13. Their revenue in power solutions has gone down by 50% this fiscal. The total revenue earned in the segment is between `20-30 lakh.

They are mainly into security and surveillance and their main areas of operation are hydro power projects, and state government projects.In the coming days, they are mainly eying government projects in order to incur more revenue.
