ProCurve introduces complete network platform

ProCurve Networking, a business unit of HP, announced the launch of a
complete secure unified core-to-edge infrastructure solution, which includes
Core Switch 8212zl, Wireless Edge Services zl module, and Network Access
Controller (NAC) 800 appliance.

"Core Switch 8212zl based on HP's ProVison ASIC technology increases
productivity, Wireless Edge Services zl module reduces complexity, and Network
Access Controller (NAC) 800 appliance provides security," said Amol Mitra,
MD, ProCurve Networking Business, Asia Pacific and Japan, at the launch. It is
targeted at the enterprise market focusing on the SMBs and large business, Mitra
informed.

"The networking market size is $450 million in India and ProCurve
intends to move up the ladder to become number two in India by 2011," said
Mitra. Currently, Cisco is leading the market in India and ProCurve stands in
the fifth place.

The unified core-to-edge infrastructure is designed to unify network
operation, management and support while reducing complexity and lowering costs.
The Core Switch 8212zl comes with a lifetime warranty and has a high-performance
chassis core switch platform that provides comprehensive layer 2 through layer 4
features and advanced security. It provides 692 Gbps switch capacity and 10 GbE
connectivity, making it ideal for high-speed core networking applications. The
base system is priced in the range of Rs 7 lakh to 8 lakh.

The ProCurve Wireless Edge Services zl Module provides advanced wireless
service for the new 8212zl core switch and ProCurve 5400zl series edge switches.
It features a common modular architecture for the chassis line, offering
flexible wireless services that unify both wired and wireless operations across
the network.

"The NAC 800 provides a one stop solution for the customers, protects
the network from unauthorized users and PCs, test endpoint integrity and protect
information," said Mitra. It works in conjunction with ProCurve Network
Identity Driven Manager software that manages intelligent network access,
applying security and performance settings to network devices based on user,
location and time. Together they enable organizations to address security
breaches.

With this complete unified core-to-edge infrastructure solution, ProCurve
plans to address the potential verticals like education, government,
manufacturing sector, health and hospitality in India and APAC.
