Products are priced higher here, says Aligarh channel

Aligarh: At the IT Panchayat recently organized in Aligarh by the DQ Week and
DQ Channels, partners indicated that some products were being sold at a higher
price in Aligarh. According to

Brijesh Agarwal of Yamini Emphasis, "It is high time that we start taking
this seriously. There are many products, which are sold at higher price here.
The same products can be bought at a much cheaper rate elsewhere. Distributors
should talk to vendors and do something about this." He said that some HP
products are being sold at a higher price by the distributors as compared to the
price offered by a retailer.

Reacting to that issue and speaking on behalf of the distributors, Raheenul
Hasan of Redington India said that as a company Redington had a policy wherein
different slabs had been allotted for different class B or C cities, so it was
not possible that there could be such difference in cities like Aligarh.

Placing his point of concern, another partner Faran Shikoh of Cosmic
Technologies said that Aligarh was perhaps one of the few places where IT
products are not being made available by the distributors easily, although they
are easily available at places like Ghaziabad and Noida. "There are times when
we have big product announcements from the vendor and we want to get the product
in this market. Suddenly the distributor says that the product is not available
in this market. However, it is readily available in other neighboring markets
like Ghaziabad or Noida," he added.

Reacting to this point, Hasan explained that as a distributor, it is not
possible for Redington to take orders from the channel community. "We cannot
do this kind of practice and survive in the market," he explained.

Ashu Chanana of Computer Channel explained that Aligarh should get more
attention from the distributor community and billing should be made easy at this
location. "There is still a lot of effort which is required on the channel's
part to get simple things done here. Availability is an issue and then there are
issues with warehousing as well. At times we get material coming from other
regions in two or three days. However, it takes weeks for something to come from
Agra or Ghaziabad," he added.

Panelists at IT Panchayat comprised Raheenul Hasan of Redington India,
Brijesh Agarwal of Yamini Emphasis Softwares, Faran Shikoh of Cosmic
Technologies, Ajay Tomar of Faith Computer and Ashu Chanana of Computer Channel.
