Prompt Computer employee flees with consignments

Bengaluru: Bengaluru-based Prompt Computers Services has filed a police case against one of its employees. The company reported that an employee named Yatish has been absconding since Jan 2, 2009. Yatish, who hails from Somwarpet, a small village of Kodagu district, was appointed as a delivery boy on Jan 1. Prior to Prompt Computers Yatish was working with ICICI Bank under house keeping agency for delivering items.

On Jan 2 the company had sent him with a consignment of HP cartridges (Q2612A/ Q6511A/ Q7551A/ C4096A/ C6615D/ C6625A) worth Rs 25,000 to one of their customers, but neither did he deliver the consignments nor did he contact the company after leaving the premises.

Talking about the incident Dinesh Shenoy, Proprietor, Prompt Computers Services said, “Yatish was working in ICICI Bank under house keeping agency as a delivery boy, in the same building. He approached us for a job as a delivery boy. We appointed him on Jan 1 and on Jan 2 we gave him the consignments to deliver to one of our customers. But since the time he has left the premise, he has not reached our customer's place nor has he contacted us.”

He further has lodged a police complaint against Yatish under section 76 (A) Receipt No DWD 2007/0298212 dated Jan 3, 2009 at Vijayanagar Police Station in Bengaluru. Police has assured that they are very much confident of arresting the culprit very soon.

When asked about the case, Inspector Jagarnath Rai of Vijayanagar Police Station refused to disclose the details. Taking about Association for Information Technology's (AIT) support Shenoy stated, “We have already sent a mail to AIT members regarding the incident asking them to report if someone tries to sell them these products and we are looking for positive reply from them.”

“We are in such a condition that we might not believe anybody in future. It is a bad start for us in the new year. We are requesting AIT members and friends not to buy and sell any stolen materials from any unknown persons or sources as they will be responsible for encouraging such acts. And if anyone finds this person please detain him or else inform us immediately. We have alerted all AIT members and resellers about the matter,” added Shenoy.

R Sridhar, Secretary of AIT informed that the association has received the mail from the company. “We have already circulated the mail to all members and other associations so that everybody can be alert about the incident,” he said.
