Pune's Phoebus Technologies merges with Vintech Electronics

Pune: Pune-based Phoebus Technologies has merged into another company called Vintech Electronic Systems. The merger came into effect on April 1, 2009. However, official declaration for the merger will be made on April 15, 2009 after all the legal proceedings are completed.

The two directors of Vintech Electronics, Raju Patayeet and Chitamani Lele, will be joined by the three directors of Phoebus Technologies, Chandan Joshi, Dilip Patil, and Sushil Kulkarni. The new directors will be responsible for the services and enterprise segment, the task they were earlier doing in Phoebus company, while Patayeet and Lele will continue to look after sales and back hand operations respectively.

It may be recalled that Phoebus Technologies was started by Joshi, Patil and Kulkarni in the year 1999. Phoebus, was a premier business partner of HP and provided offerings ranging from peripherals to enterprise level solutions. Interestingly, Vintech Electronics is also a premier business partner of HP and is into IT hardware, system integration and office automation solutions, with a strong presence in SMB segment.

Chandan Joshi, CEO, Phoebus Technologies said, “We were both in a similar kind of business. But, our approachs were different. Phoebus was catering to large enterprises, while Vintech catered to the SMB segment.” The merger will fill now enable the two companies to merge their core competencies together and tap a bigger customer segment, jointly, added Joshi.

When contacted, Lele said that post the merger the Vintech team would be much stronger and organized. “We will now target all verticals of HP including enterprise, consumables and printers, which will cover the entire product line and market segment,” he said.

Lele pointed out that the development will help to consolidate strength and cut cost. It will help them to penetrate the market with better workforce and foray into service segment as well.

However, this is not the first time these five people are coming together to work. Vintech and Pheous have earlier floated a venture by the name of XI Growing Solutions, along with a company by the name of Leon. XI Growing Solutions was functioning as a separate company. Later, Leon parted ways. After the Vintech merger, XI Growing Solutions will be closed down.
