Rajarshi Ghosh: Man With a Golden Heart

Currently working at Epitome Convergent Networks as the director of the company, Rajarshi Ghosh is born in Kolkata and is the youngest in the family of four. His father was a medical practitioner, and mother was a housewife and he has an elder brother. "My career started immediately after graduation, as I joined a glass manufacturing company," says Ghosh. The determined man worked for a year and then started his venture in the field of setting computer media and peripherals. Around this time he pursued his post graduation specializing in advertising and marketing.

CHILDHOOD AIM
Ghosh was more into games than studies. He says, "I was an ardent lover of sports having proficiency in cricket, table tennis and swimming. Although I was the captain for my school and college cricket team but my dream of being a professional cricketer was never fulfilled. Then my dream was to become a doctor. For some reason or the other it did not happen."

REALITY BITES
After failing to fulfill his childhood dreams, he wanted to evolve as an entrepreneur but not as a businessman. "After working for 10 months in LaOpala, I jumped into selling of computer media and peripherals. Two-three years later, I lost the desired satisfaction. Then slowly I entered into solution business and finding my own self what I wanted."

INITIAL DAYS
Before starting Epitome Convergent Networks Ghosh was more than 15 years old in the industry. He says, "Thinking of a name for the company I thought, it is high time to epitomize our solutions and integration then why not Epitome Convergent Networks. And that is how it started. We were awarded by HP, Cisco and various other organizations which inspired us. For me each of our solutions be in the field of education and research, traffic management, corporate are my professional achievements."

ACHIEVEMENTS
"I consider my biggest professional achievement is meeting Dr APJ Abdul Kalam for 30 minutes after my presentation in an International Conference in Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur. Those 30 minutes helped me to become a better citizen of India," claims an elated Ghosh.

CHALLENGES
Roadblocks and challenges according to Ghosh are ever changing scenarios. The head-strong man adds, "The challenges and roadblocks in the initial days were mainly capital, like funds to execute the orders. After a certain point of time updating own self and getting accustomed with the new technologies was a challenge. A continuous challenge is retaining your team member and motivating them. But I always see myself as a goalkeeper, ie, last defense who is there to overcome any kind of challenges and roadblocks with the help of my team members."

POLICIES IN LIFE
Ghosh believes that knowledge is the king of this kingdom, irrespective of the field you are in. He says, "My policies are: look straight, think straight, speak straight. It sounds so simple but not that simple you have to practice it."

FAMILY TIME
Ghosh is blessed with two beautiful daughters and an understanding wife. "My younger daughter is deaf and this has evolved me as a mature person, spiritually also. One important turning point in my life was a training called MILT (Mcgrath Institute of Leadership Training) which contributed both in my personal and professional life," says the determined person.

HOBBIES & FUTURE PLANS
"My hobbies are swimming, thought reading and photography," says Ghosh. Among various future plans, both professional and personal, Ghosh wants to see all his team members as part of the company in terms of shareholders. He adds, "I want the customer to treat us as ‘zara hatke' against our respected competition all the way."

On the personal front, Ghosh wants to contribute in the society in a meaningful way. He says, "Atleast 8-10% of my total income should go to the 'have-nots'. I want to see my younger daughter as an independent Indian who will also contribute to the society."
