Kavita
Singhal, director,
Kamtron Systems
JOB
PROFILE:
Having been
associated with the IT industry for about 20 years, Kavita Singhal is
currently responsible for spearheading the business activities at
Kamtron Systems as the director of the Delhi-based company. Besides
looking after the licensing of software in the company, she is also
responsible for guiding her team, deploying solutions and human
resources training. She believes that women employees are equally
diligent and passionate about their work, as male employees. “Since
its inception in the year 1999, Kamtron has been nurtured from a
start-up to a leading software marketing organization with its major
focus in the education sector,” affirms Singhal.
BACKGROUND:
Having done
her schooling from Delhi, Singhal completed her BTech from Srinagar.
She started her career in 1991 as a GET (Graduate Engineer Trainee)
in Calcom Electronics. After gaining 8 years of experience in the IT
industry, Singhal along with her husband started the software
marketing organization, Kamtron Systems. She had to quit her job for
sometime to look after her son, who had met with an accident. And
after a while, she decided to start working again, and today, Singhal
has managed to run the business successfully, managing to churn an
annual turnover of Rs 20 crore. “My parents are happy to see me
where I am today and they are proud to have me as their daughter,”
says a confident and focused Singhal.
CHALLENGES:
Singhal
strongly believes that the harder a challenge is in ones life, the
stronger one gets in terms of learning, growing, thinking, behavior
and actions. She believes that it seldom comes as default that one is
good at his or her job; it has to be proven every time one takes up a
new job. Singhal believes, that interacting with end-customers for
business deals, and convincing them is a challenge in itself. But,
she always takes it with a positive attitude.
STRENGTHS:
Being optimistic throughout her career, Singhal has always believed
in putting her best efforts to turn challenges into opportunities.
Singhal says, “My family has always given me mental strength and
courage to overcome all hurdles in my life with a positive approach
towards both work and personal life.” She does not miss a chance to
learn something new, even from her subordinates. The well-being of
her family and her team members at Kamtron Systems is what fuels her
inner strength, which helps her to succeed at her work place. She
considers her self- confidence as an asset because it helps her to
experiment with new ideas and deliver results. She has a strong sense
of entrepreneurship and believes that passion for a particular task
to complete successfully helps in charging a large part of the brain,
which simultaneously helps in achieving one's goal. According to
Singhal, in an organizational setup, co-operation and least
favoritism will help one to earn the trust of others. Talking about
better communication, Singhal says, “US President Barrack Obama,
whose 'Yes We Can' speech inspired every part of the world,
portrays the best example. It is all about communicating, to make the
listener feel to be an important part of your vision.”
CAREER
ADVICE TO WORKING WOMEN:
“In today's
cut throat competition in the market, women are equally active and
able, to move with some adjustments, but at the same pace, as that of
men,” explains Singhal. Being a career-oriented lady herself,
Singhal gives a piece of advice to other women professionals. She
believes, that a career option comes as a revelation of one's
interest and it should not limit the professional aspirations to the
stereotypical 'doctor-engineer' dreams, that parents used to see
earlier. She is of the opinion, that all working women should believe
in themselves and be sincere about their work. “Being patient and
persistent always helps in overcoming hurdles in the growth path, and
ensures success,” says Singhal.
HOBBIES:
Singhal is a
firm believer of the comfortable coexistence of work and leisure.
Despite her demanding career, she still manages to pursue diverse
interests. Spending time with her family is a stressbuster for her
and she indulges in it as frequently as possible. She takes a break
from her work for a couple of weeks and goes on a vacation with her
family. She also loves watching movies and going for shopping.
FUTURE
PLANS:
Singhal does
not like planning for the future; rather she loves to live in the
present. Holding onto her convictions, Singhal confirmed that she
would certainly take her company Kamtron Systems to a new height of
success.
