Roop Techologies : Saying No to Tie-ups

Despite recession and slow movement of box products, Roop Technologies
managed to grow by 19 percent and recorded a revenue of Rs 185 crore in FY'
2008-09 as against Rs 152 crore in the previous fiscal. This significant growth
was due to sales in both the consumer and corporate segments, which account for
most of its business.

The first six months of the FY' 2008-09 were favorable for the company,
during which time its sales grew by 50 percent. However, in October, Roop's
consumer business was down by 15 percent and the distributor resorted to the
strategy of expanding product lines. It added LG TFT monitors and other products
to its basket. In addition, it also implemented several secondary schemes to
overcome recession.

Although Viewsonic remained the distributor's highest performing brand, LG
was the biggest contributor to its overall revenue, in so far as brand value is
concerned.

The high-end premium products proved to be the saving grace which helped it
to survive the recession. Currently, the distributor does not have high
expectations as far as the growth is concerned and has decided go slow on any
further business expansion. However, it is now planning to add products such as
notebooks, netbooks, external hard disk drives and peripherals to its portfolio.

Security and surveillance is the avenue which Roop Technologies is looking
forward to explore, initiating this distribution plans through system integrator
partners. With 11 branches spread across southern and western region, the
company is now planning to spread their market to the North as well.

The coming fiscal year the company may announce several schemes to boost sale
of the brands that they might take up. Roop Technologies is also looking forward
to tie-ups with Genius and other brands to further enhance its portfolio.
