RSA, Secude offer SAP security applications to large manufacturing companies

New Delhi: RSA India, the security division of EMC, has tied up with Secude to offer security on SAP applications to the large enterprises in the manufacturing segment. The two companies will jointly bring identification, authentication, encryption and access control into the management of the SAP systems to bring down the instances of insider attacks and data leakage from enterprises.

Secude India was earlier known as Altrion Technologies, which was a SAP ERP integration and SAP security and technology consulting company. In 2008, it was taken over by Swiss-based Secude AG and re-structured as Secude India.

Jagan Nathan Vaman, MD, Secude noted that increasingly the ERP system has become central to the entire business of a company. “If the ERP system goes down for a few minutes, especially for large manufacturing enterprises, then they can't bill their customer or process an order. Now considering that this is a single point of failure and combining this with the fact that 80 percent of attacks happen through inside the company, it is clear that the need for securing the application is more,” he added.

Secude plans to go to market with the message that it will be delivering risk managed SAP. “Our approach is that Secude RSA combined will bring in technology solutions to the problems in the area of access management and authentication. Our two-factor authentication is unique and unparalleled in security domain,” Vaman confidently claimed.

There is a reason why RSA and Secude will be targeting the manufacturing segment. One of the reasons is that both companies feel this vertical is not addressed by the global security companies, as they focus more on financial institutions. Secude has identified 3,000 manufacturing companies that have SAP deployed on their systems, and it will target the top 900 large-scale enterprises of these.

“It is exciting for us that the Secude partnership has opened a new avenue for us and with our SAP security coupled with some client wins that we have already have, we are confident that our ability to have dialogues around security in the manufacturing domain would be more than welcomed by the end customers,” said Amuleek Birjal, Country Manager, RSA India.

RSA has entered into an exclusive alliance with Secude, but Birjal said that that over time, the company would work with those solution providers who double up as SAP consultants to the target manufacturing companies. It will make a list of the large SAP partners in the country who also sell RSA solutions and make them priority partners, an exercise which it hopes to complete in the next six months.

RSA will also explore the idea of working with other ERP vendors over time, though initially it will limit itself to SAP.
