Sahara to launch its branded PCs in India

Sahara Computers and Electronics Ltd (SCEL), a JV between Sahara India Pariwar and Sahara South Africa, will build and sell a range of 'Sahara'-branded computers based on AMD processors. 

As part of its India charter, SCEL will manufacture and sell AMD processor-based products and solutions designed for the range of business and consumer technology buyers in the India market. These solutions will include computing platforms based on AMD Athlon 64 and AMD Sempron processors for desktop and mobile computing and AMD Opteron processors for workstations and servers.

"The combination of AMD's processors and Sahara's prominence as one of the biggest household names in India will help bring the benefits of computing technology to more of India's population," said AMD India president Ajay Marathe. "Sahara will focus on accelerating the adoption rate of computing technology throughout India by developing solutions that meet the specific needs of Indian customers. Our relationship with Sahara expands AMD's efforts to strengthen our leadership position in this critically strategic market," he added.
