Salem association gung-ho about IT expo

Chennai : Salem IT Association will be conducting its eighth annual IT
expo--Computer Carnival 2008 from Dec 25 to 28. The exclusive expo is for IT
products with the latest technology, claimed P Manikandan, Chairman, Computer
Carnival 2008. "Every year we used to attract around 40,000 people from Salem
and nearby areas such as Aathur, Namakkal, Tiruchangode and Mettur. This year
too, we expect similar attendance," he said.

The expo will target the education, home segment and the SMBs. Education and
various industries that have been contributing to the Salem market to a vast
extent.

Manikandan said that though the overall financial crisis has had an impact on
the market, it hasn't affected the home and educational segment. "The
industries are feeling the heat, however we feel that the end-user segment
continues to spend on their IT purchases and that has boosted our confidence in
conducting the IT expo during this time of global financial crisis," he shared.

To increase the reach of the products, the association has planned to
showcase the products in real-time, so that customers can experience the
products before buying them. "We are planning to create a Wi-Fi zone in the expo
and want to showcase the products in real-time," Manikandan informed.

He also said that the reduction in prices of IT products would bring in more
response from the customers, and the expo at this time would definitely act as a
catalyst for drawing good business for dealers who have been affected by the
current financial crisis. "We are also giving good offers for spot bookings. All
these things put together will make the event a huge success," he asserted.
