Samsung alerts channel of illegal monitor imports

Illegal imports come in green cartons while regular supplies are in blue
boxes

Samsung has cautioned channel partners of a recent illegal import of 15"
and 17" monitors through the grey channel and warned them of strict action
if they are found indulging in grey monitor purchase or sale.

Additionally, to stop partners from buying these products, Samsung has
launched an awareness campaign through its Star Elite partners issuing mailers
and requesting them to forward it further to their channel.

According to Samsung, the grey monitor imports have happened in the 15"
and 17" product categories at Mumbai. These products have come in green
colored cartons, while the regular supplies of Samsung India happens in the blue
cartons.

The
Deflection Yoke in the color monitors with green color cartons is meant for the
southern hemisphere. Since its magnetic field is different from the Indian
latitude, these monitors will develop color patches in three to six months of
usage.

Samsung also informed partners that these monitors are rejected quality units
made in Malaysia or China and do not carry India warranty. These monitors have
low image sharpness and brightness and are susceptible to very high breakages.
