New Delhi: Samsung India has appointed Gurpreet Brar as GM-Volume Sales, as Sanjay Sharma, VP-IT has quit the company to look for opportunities elsewhere. Brar has been appointed in place of Sharma and with his appointment, Samsung India has also re-organized its IT structure. The company has organized its IT business into two verticals namely Volume and Printer Businesses, with retail , B2B and marketing being the integrated functions across both the verticals.
While the Volume Business, comprising of the Company's LCD Monitor , HDD , OMS and notebook PC product categories will be handled by Gurpreet Brar, the company's printer business will be looked after by Uday Bhatt , GM-Printer Business. The B2B function for the complete IT Division will also be handled by Bhatt.
When contacted Sanjay Sharma replied via an sms,"I am outside the country and will comment next week once I return."
Samsung's retail business portfolio(integrated across the Volume and Printer business) will also be handled by Gurpreet Brar. Brar has joined Samsung India from Hewlett Packard (India ), where he was operating as the Country Manager for Volume Direct Business since 2000 .Gurpreet has more than seventeen years of experience across Corporate Account Management , Channel management and telecom circle operations. Before this Brar has also worked with HP, Spice Telecom and Pertech Computers.
Both the Volume and the Printer Business heads will be accountable to Ranjit Singh Yadav , Director-IT Division , Samsung India. The Company's product management , supply chain management and marketing communications functions will also report directly to Yadav. Talking about the restructuring, Yadav stated," The new, strengthened organization structure coupled with an enhanced product portfolio and an expanded channel base, will help us gather and aggressively grow our IT Business this year. "
When asked the reasons behind revamping the entire IT structure, Yadav elaborated, "We have enhanced the roles of the various divisional heads and this is in view of the new integrated marketing approach that we have adopted. We are aiming for higher growth and thus shaping the entire structure. Earlier we had an individual appointed for each of the functions including retail, B2B and marketing but now all of that has been integrated and structured as two separate verticals."
Samsung India recently introduced its notebook PCs in the Indian market. The company has also recently enhanced its 'Myst Plus' LCD monitor range by launching its new 20-inch wide format LCD monitor that comes with a contrast ratio of 15000:1 , 5 ms refresh rate and 16:9 format.
