Samsung India has announced the setting up of its first digital zone in
Chennai. The company plans to set up around six more digital zones in metro
cities of the country by the end of the year, Samsung said in a statement.
"The south region represents a key market for us in terms of printer
sales and based on the consistent performance that we are seeing in this market,
we decided to introduce our first digital zone concept here. The digital zone
seeks to provide a very interactive, lifestyle experience to the customers for
our digital imaging products," said R Zutshi, deputy MD, Samsung India.
Samsung India also launched nine new models of printers including two mono
laser printer models (ML-4050N, ML-4551NDR); four multifunction printer models
(SCX-5530FN; SCX-6122 FN; SCX-6322 DN and SCX-6345 N) and color laser printer
models (CLP-300 N, CLX-2160 and CLX-2160N).
CLX -2160 that was launched is a compact and lightest color laser all-in-one
unit that is one half the size of the conventional printers. The product adopts
"USB direct function" to enable scanning and printing without a PC,
and storing scanned images in USB memory, while popular image formats, like
TIFF, BMP, JPEG, PDF, can be read and printed with the USB.
The CLX-2160 is priced at Rs 24,990 while the CLX-2160 N is priced at Rs
29,990.
With the launch of its new models, Samsung has a range of nine multifunction
printers, seven color lasers and 10 mono laser printers, priced in the range
between Rs 4990 and Rs 1,44,990. "Based on our considerably enhanced
product line up, expansion of our distribution tie ups and channel expansion, we
expect to achieve a 20 percent market share in the printer category this
year," added Zutshi.
