To give a fresh thrust to its printer business, the company is doubling its
printer sales and marketing manpower this year and has created a new regional
structure with regional sales managers responsible for growth in their regions.
"To give our enterprise business a strong fillip, we have set-up a separate
corporate sales team for our printer business as distinct from our channel sales
team," stated Uday Bhat, GM-IT Division, Samsung India Electronics.

In addition to strengthening the printer organization, the company is
focusing on expanding its product range and channel in order to achieve its
targeted growth of over 100 percent in this year. "We have adopted a
multi-pronged strategy of launching new products across all customer segments,
supporting the range with a strong communication concept of 'Printelligense' and
strengthening our channel engagement across India. To give consumers a complete
idea of our IT Product portfolio, including printers and LCD monitors, we plan
to set-up 10 IT brand shops in this year," Bhat said,

To support its new printer range, Samsung is launching a new communication
campaign in both its customer and channel communication. Some of the highlights
of the new range are printers with the smallest footprints to save space,
printers with the low printing costs, printers with USB direct print and scan
functions, printers with easy paper jam removal and onsite warranty for all

The flagship of the new laser printer range is the ML 2245, which has the
drum and the toner separate, thereby saving around 50 percent printing cost per
page. "This India specific product will be a boon for small and medium
business as it provides them a fast, reliable, feature rich laser printer with
the lowest printing costs. This will encourage customers to go in for genuine
toners for the best print quality rather than look at alternatives,” added
Bhat.
