Sea Infonet on expansion mode

In an attempt to establish its national presence, Kolkata-based Sea Infonet will soon open its corporate offices in New Delhi and Mumbai. Already having an operational division in Delhi, the company plans to start its marketing and sales initiatives in the capital. “One reason why we are extending our operations in Delhi is because it is a strategic location to cater to the North Indian market and we feel that the corporate segment in security software there is untapped. Apart from this segment, we would also concentrate on developing a strong channel base in the region,” commented Rakesh Tiwari, Joint Director, Sea Infonet.

Besides anti-virus software, Sea Infonet has announced to add rollback software to its portfolio. It is providing various value-added services to its customers by providng live updates and direct vendor links on its websites. It will also provide additional Internet threat information to its clients on a regular basis.

“We come out regularly with a monthly periodical on the emerging threats from viruses, worms, trojans, malwares which is distributed free of cost in Kolkata. We have got excellent response from our customers. We will be introducing the same service in Delhi as well. We also do a virus check for the SMB and SOHO segment in Kolkata for free. This too will be replicating in Delhi,” said Biswajeet Saha, Joint Director, Sea Infonet.

Talking about the Delhi market, Tiwari commented, “Delhi market is a bit different from its counterpart, Kolkata, because people here generally prefer established brands and are not keen on experimenting with new things. Delhi customers on the other hand are price conscious-often opting for economical products and are driven primarily by quality.” He also added that initially, it was difficult for his company to sell original anti-virus software to the SOHO segment because of its high prices, but things have changed now.

Hindalco, CMRI, Garden Reach Ship Building Yard, Oberoi Grand, S-E Railways and Nipco (Kolkata branch) are some of Sea Infonet's clients. The company also has recently bagged a OEM deal with Ortel, an Internet service provider in Orissa to provide them with bundled anti-virus offer for Ortel's subscribers.
