Series of thefts disturb Ludhiana dealers

Ludhiana: Channel partners in Ludhiana are perturbed with the series of thefts that have been taking place recently. In the last two weeks, two new incidents of laptop thefts took place at August Marketing and Annex Computers.

At August Marketing, the burglars fled with seven laptops, seven Sony LCD TVs and some cash. The total loss incurred to the company is of around

Rs 10 lakh. Whereas in Annex Computers, the thieves fled with four laptops and cash worth Rs 1.5 lakh.

The incidents appear to be of similar nature, where the burglars broke the shutter locks and fled away with the showcased laptops and the available cash.

Gurmeet Singh Bedi, owner of August Marketing informed that they have filed a case at the police station and the investigation is going on. “An FIR has been filed but the police is still clueless about the culprits. The number of theft incidents has gone up in Ludhiana, Chandigarh and Jalanadhar. The police are asking the dealers to take precautionary steps at their own level but they themselves are not getting much support,” informed Bedi.

Paramjeet Singh Juneja from Secant Technologies informed that the dealers are investing on security measures at their level, but the involvement of police in identifying and tracing the culprits is not up to the mark.

Amit Malhotra from Annex Computers shared that his showroom was targeted by burglars a year back also, and despite increasing the security measures, the burglars managed to break open the locks of the shutter.

Gurpreet Singh, President, Association of Computer Entrepreneurs said that the association is giving full support to the dealers who are victims of the theft incidents and is ensuring that the police takes the right measures to catch the culprits.
